Looking for a Claude Motion alternative? Start with the job
Most searches for Claude Motion alternatives start from one assumption: the alternative has to replace it. Anthropic's own announcement, dated October 8, 2026, points another way. To take a Motion animation further, it says you can open it in Adobe, Descript, HeyGen, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI or Runway, with Canva and Captions coming soon. Several tools you might shortlist as rivals appear there as the next step after Motion, not instead of it.
The real split is about what goes in. Motion animates your own text, charts, shapes and images. Anthropic is direct about the rest: "It doesn't use a video generation model, so there's no generated footage and no AI-generated people."
We have not tried Claude Motion. Every claim about it on this page comes from Anthropic's own pages, with the date of each one.
So the question that decides the rest of this page isn't which tool replaces Motion. It's simpler: what does this video have to show? To answer it, start with what Motion is built to do.
What Claude Motion does well, according to Anthropic
Anthropic's announcement (October 8, 2026) says Motion is built for explaining your own work. Claude writes code that animates your text, charts, shapes and images, so you can change any word, number or timing. The help article (October 13, 2026) suggests attaching the report, data or images you want used, so the animation is built from your own content.
You can adjust the animation in the editor or ask Claude to change it. Then click Export and choose MP4. Animations start private to you, and Share sends one to your team. To take an animation further, you can open it in the editors Anthropic names in its announcement.
Anthropic's own examples show what it has in mind:
- a quarterly report turned into a 30-second explainer for an all-hands
- motion added to a chart in a board deck
- a product walkthrough for customer onboarding
We covered the launch itself in our earlier read of the Claude Motion announcement.
The two limits Anthropic states
The announcement (October 8, 2026): "It doesn't use a video generation model, so there's no generated footage and no AI-generated people."
The help article (October 13, 2026): "Claude Motion doesn't use a video generation model, so it doesn't create realistic footage or people."

Why people look elsewhere
None of this is a shortcoming. It describes a particular job, and some launch assets need a different one. People look past Motion when:
- the launch video has to show the live product being used, which the pages don't document beyond the onboarding example
- they want a person on screen, which both stated limits rule out
- their team isn't on a Team or Enterprise plan
- they'd rather not spend from the same limits as the rest of their Claude work: a session limit that resets every five hours, plus weekly limits
Each of those points to a different tool. Which one fits depends on what your video has to show.
Take the first case: the launch video that has to show your live product.
uscale: when the launch video should show your real product
uscale is our product. We've put it where we think it fits, and said where others fit better. It comes first because this post's use case is a launch video for a software product, and that is the job uscale is built for.
If the viewer needs to see your product being used, start from the product, not from a description of it. A launch video earns trust when its screens are the ones the viewer will see after signing up.
What you get
You paste your website or app address, or connect a GitHub repository read-only. uscale opens the live product and films each screen, sharp and never cropped. For screens behind a sign-in, you sign in once in a browser streamed to you. In a chat, the director proposes a storyboard with every narration line, and nothing is filmed until you approve it.
A voice, captions on every word and a music bed are added. The film comes out in your logo, colours and fonts, read from your live site. It works in 21 languages. The same chat makes launch films, walkthroughs, cinematic cuts, story films, and founder avatar films made from one photo.
It is best for launch videos and onboarding videos that show the real interface. Anthropic lists a product walkthrough for customer onboarding among its Motion examples, and that is the same job.
What it isn't built for
- Animating a chart or report for a board deck.
- A version without captions. Captions can't be turned off today.
- Your own voice in the narration. This is not possible today.
- Narration in Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Arabic. These are not supported yet.
What it costs
A launch film is 10 credits: filming 4, the launch plan 4, render 2. After that you buy credits once:
| Pack | Price | Credits | Launch films, per pricing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lite | $29 | 25 | about 2 |
| Starter | $49 | 50 | about 5 |
| Growth | $129 | 150 | about 15 |
There is no subscription and there are no seats. The director names each step's price before it starts.
Compared with Claude Motion, each has a different strength. Motion builds from your own report and lets you edit every word, number and timing. uscale films the live product and narrates it. If you already have a Motion animation, the next options continue it rather than start over.
HeyGen: when you want to take a Motion animation further
Searching "Claude Motion vs HeyGen" assumes the two compete. Anthropic's own announcement, dated October 8, 2026, frames them differently. It lists HeyGen as one of the places where you can open a Motion animation to take it further. On Anthropic's page, HeyGen is a next step after Motion, not a replacement for it.
This page describes HeyGen only as that announcement does. We have no facts from HeyGen's own pages yet, so we make no claims about its features, its price or who it suits best. Check HeyGen's own site and its pricing page before you decide.
The useful question is not which tool is better. It is where your work already lives. A Motion animation already holds words, numbers and timing that you have checked. If the animation already exists, the shortest step is the one that keeps it.
Here is a plain recommendation, using a made-up case. Say you have built an onboarding walkthrough in Motion, adjusted it in the editor and downloaded it as an MP4, as Anthropic describes. If you want to keep working on that animation in a tool Anthropic pairs with Motion, choose HeyGen over uscale. uscale would start again from your live website, and that is a different job.
| What Anthropic's page says | HeyGen's own page | Price | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Listed as a place to open a Motion animation and take it further (Anthropic, October 8, 2026) | Not sourced here; see HeyGen's own site | Not sourced here; see HeyGen's pricing page | Continuing a Motion animation you have already made, in a tool Anthropic names |
HeyGen is a documented route for a Motion animation, per Anthropic. uscale films the live product from its website.
HeyGen isn't the only editor on Anthropic's list, though, and some Motion animations are headed somewhere longer.
Descript: when the Motion export is one part of a longer edit
If your Motion animation is one scene in a longer video, take the export into Descript rather than rebuilding it elsewhere. Anthropic's announcement (October 8, 2026) names Descript as a place to open a Motion animation and take it further.
A worked example (hypothetical)
Say you're a product marketer preparing onboarding for new customers. You ask Motion for a short product walkthrough, the kind Anthropic gives as its customer-onboarding example. You adjust it in the Motion editor, export it, and now it has to sit inside a longer onboarding video next to a welcome from your team lead and a recorded Q&A.
| Step | Where | What done looks like |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Settle every word, number and timing | Claude Motion | The walkthrough says exactly what you want |
| 2. Export | Claude Motion | An MP4 file |
| 3. Open it with your other material | Descript, a route Anthropic names | The walkthrough is one part of the edit |
| 4. Finish the full onboarding video | Descript | One longer, finished video |
The order matters, and most people get it backwards. They export early and then try to fix a wrong figure later in the edit. In Motion, Claude can still change any word, number or timing. Once exported, the walkthrough is a finished picture. Fix the content where it is still code, and edit the sequence where it is already video.
Descript's features and prices are not in our sources, so check them on Descript's own site before you choose. Our separate look at where Descript fits covers it in more detail.
For continuing to edit a Motion export, Descript is the better pick than uscale. uscale starts from your live product, not from an animation you already have.
Descript vs uscale: Descript is a route Anthropic names for taking a Motion animation further; uscale films your live product and narrates it.
If your team already edits in another tool on Anthropic's list, the same reasoning points you there.
Runway, Luma AI and Adobe: if your team already edits there
From the rest of Anthropic's list, pick the editor your team already opens every week. Anthropic's announcement of October 8, 2026 names Adobe, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI and Runway as places to open a Motion animation and take it further, with Canva and Captions coming soon (Anthropic, October 8, 2026).
Most comparisons start from features. For a Motion export, that is the wrong place to start. The animation already exists. What remains is the next edit, and that edit goes fastest where your files, templates and the people who know the tool already are.
The argument has three steps:
- Anthropic documents each of these editors as a route for a Motion animation.
- Your team already works in one of them, and may already pay for it.
- So the Motion animation should join that workflow, not start a new one.
A Motion export doesn't need a new home. It needs the one your team already has.

Compared with uscale, these editors continue an animation you already have. uscale starts from your live product: it opens your website or app and films it.
That's a lot of options with different starting points. Here they all are in one table.
Claude Motion alternatives side by side
uscale is our product. The table puts every option from this page in one place, measured on five things that decide a shortlist:
- What you start from, because that is the material you need ready.
- What it makes, as each tool's own page describes it.
- The job it fits.
- What it costs, with source and date.
- Whether Anthropic documents a route from a Motion export.
| Starts from | What it makes, per its own page | Best for | Price, with source and date | Documented route from a Motion export | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Motion | The report, data or images you attach | Animated explainers, charts and walkthroughs, exported as MP4 | Explaining your own report, chart or deck on a Team or Enterprise plan | No separate price. It counts toward plan usage limits: a session limit that resets every five hours, plus weekly limits. Team Standard seats are $25 per member per month billed monthly or $20 billed annually, with at least two members (Claude Help Center, 2026-10-13) | It is the source |
| uscale | Your website, web app or GitHub repo | A narrated film of your product with voice, captions and music, in 21 languages | Launch and onboarding videos that show the real interface | Lite $29 for 25 credits, Starter $49 for 50, Growth $129 for 150. What the table shows
- Motion and uscale start from different material. Motion builds from what you attach. uscale films your live product.
- The editors Anthropic names continue a Motion animation rather than replace it. They come after Motion, not instead of it.
- Only Motion's and uscale's prices are sourced here. Check the other tools' pricing pages before you budget.
Shortlist by situation
- Choose Claude Motion if your team is on Team or Enterprise and the video explains a quarterly report, a board-deck chart or other work you already have.
- Choose uscale if you are a founder or product marketer before launch and the video has to show the product being used. See the product launch video use case.
- Choose HeyGen, Descript or the editor your team already works in if you have a Motion animation and want to keep editing it. Our look at where Descript fits covers that route.
Rule of thumb: if the video shows your data, start in Motion. If it shows your product, start from your site. If the animation already exists, open it in the editor you use.
Which leaves the obvious objection: maybe you don't need an alternative at all.
When to stay with Claude Motion, and when not to choose uscale
The strongest case against switching is simple. If Motion already sits inside the plan your team pays for, why add another tool? For a lot of what product marketers make, that holds. If your team is on a Team or Enterprise plan and the video explains a report, a chart or a deck, stay with Motion.
Anthropic's advice is to attach the report, data or images you want used, so the animation is built from your own content. You can change any word, number or timing, then export an MP4. There is nothing to film and no product to sign in to. On Enterprise, check first: Motion is off by default until an owner turns it on in Organization settings > Artifacts.
When not to choose uscale
uscale films a live product. Today that makes it the wrong pick in these cases:
- The video is an animated chart or report explainer, not a film of a product.
- You need your own voice. Films are voiced with uscale's voices.
- You need a version without captions. Captions are burned into every film.
- You need narration in Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Arabic. That is not supported yet.
- You want to keep editing an existing Motion animation. Open it in one of the editors Anthropic names, such as Descript or HeyGen.
- You need a real person filmed on camera. uscale's founder presenter is made from one photo, with no filming day, and speaks with a uscale voice.
For a quick async message recorded from your own screen, a screen recorder fits better. See Loom alternatives for product demos.
| If your video… | Pick… |
|---|---|
| explains a report, chart or deck your team already has | Claude Motion |
| continues a Motion animation inside a longer edit | Descript or another editor Anthropic names |
| shows your live product being used for a launch | uscale |
| needs your own voice, no captions, or Chinese, Japanese, Korean or Arabic narration | not uscale, today |
| needs a real person filmed on camera | a filmed shoot |
Motion is for the material you already have. uscale is for a launch video that has to show the product itself.
Try it: make a product launch video from your live site, and approve every narration line before anything is filmed.
Pick what the video shows, then start
Every tool on this page answers one question, so start there.
- Decide what the video has to show. Is it your report, chart or deck, or your live product being used? Settle that before you open any tool.
- If it's your data, try Claude Motion. First check that your plan has it, because Anthropic lists it in beta on Team and Enterprise. Then type /motion in the Claude message box and attach the report, data or images you want animated.
- If it's your live product, paste your site on the product launch video page. You get a storyboard with every narration line for your approval, then a narrated film of the real product with voice, captions and music. The first video is free: 10 credits, 20 with a work email, no card needed.

If you'd rather see results first, finished films are on the examples page. The credit packs are on pricing, and films for software teams are under software products.
We'll update this page when Claude Motion leaves beta or when its plans or price change.
A launch video doesn't need a cleverer animation tool. It needs the right material on screen, and for a launch, that is usually the product itself.

Questions
What is Claude Motion?
Claude Motion is an Anthropic feature, in beta since October 8, 2026, that turns your own text, charts, shapes and images into an animated explainer that plays like a short video. Claude writes code for the animation, so any word, number or timing can be changed, and the result exports as an MP4. It does not use a video generation model, so it creates no realistic footage or AI-generated people.
Which Claude plans include Claude Motion, and what does it cost?
Claude Motion is in beta on Claude's Team and Enterprise plans. It is on by default on Team, and off on Enterprise until an owner turns it on in Organization settings > Artifacts. It has no separate price: it counts toward plan usage limits, and longer or more complex animations use more. Team Standard seats cost $25 per member per month billed monthly, or $20 billed annually, with at least two members.
Can Claude Motion show my real product interface?
Not as far as Anthropic's pages document. Claude Motion animates the text, charts, shapes and images you attach, so a screenshot of your product can be animated, and Anthropic lists a product walkthrough for customer onboarding among its examples. But Motion doesn't use a video generation model and creates no realistic footage. If the video must show your live product being used, a tool that films the product itself fits better.
Can I open a Claude Motion animation in HeyGen or Descript?
Yes. Anthropic's announcement of October 8, 2026 names HeyGen and Descript among the tools where a Claude Motion animation can be opened to take it further, alongside Adobe, Higgsfield, invideo, Luma AI and Runway, with Canva and Captions coming soon. Anthropic's page doesn't describe each tool's features, so check HeyGen's and Descript's own sites for their features and prices. Settle every word and number in Motion before exporting.
What does uscale cost for a product launch video?
A uscale launch film costs 10 credits: filming 4, the launch plan 4 and render 2. The first video is free, with 10 credits or 20 with a work email and no card needed. After that, credits are bought once: Lite is $29 for 25 credits, Starter $49 for 50 and Growth $129 for 150, about 2, 5 or 15 launch films. There is no subscription and no seats.
